The new type of monitoring, Structural Health Monitoring (SMH systems), increases the safety and lifespan of structures while reducing CO2.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Constant monitoring of corrosion on large concrete structures using a wireless sensor network that can power itself. This is the goal of a new project totaling DKK 35 million, in which Innovation Fund Denmark has invested DKK 26 million.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently, corrosion sensors rely on so-called electromechanical techniques, which are expensive to install because they need to be molded into the structure, require extensive cabling, and can only monitor a few critical areas.
